Newborn Photographer Melbourne

As a newborn photographer Melbourne families can trust, I create soft, timeless portraits of your baby’s earliest days.

The newborn season is tender, emotional and beautifully fleeting. After months of waiting, your baby is finally here — tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, soft cheeks and the little details you already never want to forget.

These first weeks can pass in a blur. There are quiet cuddles, long feeds, tired eyes and a love that fills the room in a way nothing else can. Then, before you realise it, your baby begins to change. Their features soften, their stretches grow stronger, and the tiny outfits that once felt too small are suddenly packed away.

Newborn photography gives you a way to pause this season before it passes.

Newborn Photography Melbourne

Your newborn photography session is calm, gentle and baby-led. I create a peaceful space where you can slow down, breathe and simply be with your baby.

There is no rush. Your baby can feed, settle, cuddle and rest whenever they need to. I gently guide each session around your baby’s rhythm, comfort and safety.

My approach focuses on soft posing, natural connection and meaningful details. I photograph the tiny hands, little toes, sleepy expressions, newborn curl and the quiet bond between your baby and family.

FAQs

When Should You Book Your Session?

Our calendar fills up 5+ months in advance, so we recommend booking as early as possible to secure your spot!

Once booked, we’ll schedule your session approximately two weeks after your due date, with flexibility to adjust if your baby arrives early or late.

To confirm your booking, a $200 booking fee is required, and the base package payment will be invoiced one week before your session.

Do We Need to Bring Anything?

Our studio is fully stocked with beautiful wraps, baby outfits, and accessories, so you don’t need to bring anything unless you’d like to personalize your session.

We’d love to incorporate any meaningful items, such as heirloom blankets, special outfits, or sentimental keepsakes, to make your photos even more special. Feel free to bring anything that holds significance for your family!

What Should We Wear?

When you book a newborn session with Nest and Nurture Melbourne, you gain access to our carefully curated client wardrobe. We offer a wide selection of beautiful dresses for mums to choose from, and you are welcome to pick up to two dresses for your session. If you would like more than two, additional dresses may incur a small cleaning fee.

For your newborn, we provide fully styled outfits, wraps, and props to create the perfect setup for your little one. We also have some options for older siblings, ensuring everyone is well-coordinated and comfortable for the session.

For dads, we ask that they bring their own outfit as it can be more challenging to find clothing that fits their body shape in our collection. We recommend neutral tones or something simple and classic that will complement the overall aesthetic of your session. If you need any help or suggestions for dad's outfit, feel free to reach out, and we’ll be happy to assist!

This way, we make sure that everyone looks their best and feels relaxed, while maintaining the cohesive, timeless style of your newborn session.

Can We Choose the Colours for Our Session?

Of course! While our studio style leans toward earthy, neutral tones, we also welcome pops of colour that harmonize with the Nest and Nurture Melbourne photography style. Whether you’re drawn to soft whites and creams or prefer deeper, moodier hues, we’re happy to accommodate your preferences.

Feel free to browse through our photos and, if there’s a specific colour scheme you love, just let us know before your session. We’ll ensure that everything is in perfect harmony with your vision and our signature style.

Can We Bring Our Other Children?

Of course! Siblings are always welcome and we love capturing memories with the whole family.

As newborn sessions usually last 1-2 hours, we recommend siblings join in for the photos. After that, it’s a good idea to have them taken by a parent or grandparent for some playtime outside or quiet activities to keep them entertained while we focus on the newborn. This helps make the session more relaxed and enjoyable for everyone!

Where Is Your Studio?

Our studio is located in South Melbourne, approximately 2km from Melbourne CBD. Convenient parking is available across from the South Melbourne Officeworks, making it easy for you to visit and enjoy your photography session.

How Long Does a Session Last?

Newborn sessions typically last between 2 to 3 hours. This extended time allows us to capture beautiful, natural moments while ensuring your baby is comfortable and settled. It also gives us the flexibility to take breaks for feeding or comforting, which is important for keeping the session relaxed and enjoyable. The extra time allows us to work at your baby's pace, so we can get the best shots without feeling rushed.
